Tips for releasing stress through seated yoga meditation

Meditation is a great tool in yoga used to help the mind and the body relax, release and provide clarity in tough situations. Have you ever felt stressed or overwhelmed? A quick five minute seated meditation may just be the answer. As a stay at home mom who home schools her kids I often used meditation as a tool to release stress so that I can stay calm. To begin meditating simply stop what you are doing and sit in a cross legged position and gently close your eyes, begin to breathe slow and deep. I love to Keep a journal handy to brain dump my thoughts before and during meditation. If your mind begins to wonder focus on your breath. Breath is our life force and the most important thing to remember when doing meditation and any type of yoga. Anyone who has breath in their body is doing yoga. Below are a few tips on how seated meditation can help support your mental and help you release built up stress. Try some of these tips at work, on the go at stores, or if you are like me who has small children at home mom and just need a quick release of built up stress.

 

Breath Awareness: Meditation emphasize breath awareness (pranayama), which is essential for calming the mind and entering a meditative state. 

 

Focus and Concentration: Meditation encourages focus and concentration. through mindful awareness and attention to the body and breath. This translates well into meditation, where concentration is key.
